summary(En) :   In the previous paper changes in the degree of polymerization were reported. In this paper weight loss with isothermal heating under a helium flow are described so as to determine the effects of boric acid, ammonium sulfamate, and guanidine sulfamate on the pyrolysis of cellulose.
The weight loss of the cellulose samples treated with these chemicals are shown as first-order reactions during the later stages of pyrolysis. The values of the respective activation energy and the pre-exponential factor determined for the samples treated with boric acid and with guanidine sulfamate are 55.6 and 58.6 kcal/mole, respectively, and 2.2×1016 and 2.8×1019 sec-1, respectively. The activation energy and the pre-exponential factor for the sample treated with ammonium sulfamate are 23.0 kcal/mole and 2.6×108 sec-1, respectively, in the higher temperature range, and 8.7 kcal/mole and 1.3×102 sec-1, respectively, in the lower temperature range. In comparison with the values obtained for the untreated sample, the first two chemicals both increased the Arrhenius parameters, whereas the last one decreased the parameters. The calculated Arrhenius parameters of the propagation do not seem to be confirmed sufficiently.
